The Management Committee of the Religious Bodies Network on Climate Change, RELBONET, has visited the National Catholic Secretariat in Accra as part of routine activities to sustain existing relationships among the RELBONET team-members.
The delegation was welcomed by the Director of the Secretariat’s Department of Human Development, Mr Zan Akologo, on March 8, 2016.
Dr. Samuel Addo Bruce, a member of the RELBONET Management Committee reiterated the purpose of the visit, which is to reestablish and sustain relationships among member organisations, and, further, to discuss issues for collaboration.
National Coordinator of RELBONET, Mr, Charles Agboklu enumerated projects that the network is working on at the moment. They include formation of Eco-Clubs in EP Church basic schools, and training of heads of schools to manage the clubs effectively. He announced RELBONET’s affiliation to the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance, PACJA, and spoke of the network’s contribution to the Ghana National Climate Change Policy validation.
Mr Akologo emphasised that the group has to be quick with sharing of information among members when critical issues arise, in order for the network and members to agree common positions quickly in dealing with issues.
He added also that the climate change policy environment is not static, as such, RELBONET has to act fast in order to achieve its objectives.
Other members include Dr Addison, Apostle Doku, Mr MacDonald Bubuama.
